Palmerston North residents who qualify for a SuperGold Parking Permit no longer need to wait until the new year to get your permit sorted.

The 2026 SuperGold Parking Permits are available now, and the process is even easier. Permits are now fully digital, meaning there’s no physical card to display in your vehicle. Once registered, your permit will be linked directly to your vehicle number plate, allowing parking wardens to confirm your permit digitally when they scan your plate.

Council's Development and Regulatory Services General Manager Kerry-Lee Probert says supporting older residents to stay connected and independent is a key focus.

“We know how important it is for older residents to access services, shops, and appointments in the city centre. By keeping this concession in place and moving to a digital system, we’re making it simpler and more convenient for SuperGold Card holders to get around while keeping parking affordable.”

To apply for or renew your permit, simply visit our Customer Service Centre (see here for address, opening hours and parking info) or Grey Power at 309 Main Street, and bring:

  • your SuperGold Card
  • your vehicle registration number
  • $10 payment (cash or card)
  • proof of address (for example, a utility or rates bill).

Once registered, you’re good to go for 2026 – just park, lock, and walk away!

If you’ll be parked outside the free parking hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm), please make sure you pay for parking for the additional time to avoid receiving a ticket.

If you’ve recently received your SuperGold Card, you may not be aware this benefit is available to you. We encourage new cardholders to visit us and register for your SuperGold Parking Permit to make the most of this service.
