Preliminary results announced for local elections 2022

UPDATED | Sunday 9 October, 1pm

Voting for Palmerston North City Council closed at 12pm on Saturday 9 October and the preliminary results for the Mayor (city wide) and Te Hirawanui General Ward councillors are now available.

These results are based upon the counting of approximately 97% of the returned voting papers. While these results give a good indication of who has been elected, the outcome may change once all voting papers have been counted. Final results will follow on Thursday 13 October, which will include all special votes cast yesterday.

Voting for Palmerston North City Council closed at 12pm today and the progress results for the Mayor (city wide) and Te Hirawanui General Ward councillors are now known. 

These results take into account approximately 91% of the returned voting papers, but exclude any votes returned today that are still in transit to the electoral officer, as well as any special votes cast.

While these results give a good indication of who has been elected, the outcome may change once all voting papers have been counted. Preliminary results will be released tomorrow, which will include all of the votes posted today. Final results are to follow on Thursday 13 October, which will include all special votes cast today.
