As Rangitāne kaumātua, Wiremu and Trieste Te Awe Awe are woven into the korowai of Te Papaiōea/Palmerston North. A descendant of Te Peeti Te Awe Awe, Wiremu combines with Trieste to preserve and enhance the mana of Rangitāne.

Pillars of partnership between Mana Whenua and the city, Wiremu and Trieste have been pivotal in fostering bicultural understanding and strengthening the presence of Māori values across civic, educational, and social spheres.
