Palmerston North Performing Arts Trust

We administer the Arts Heart educational development project scheme on behalf of the Palmerston North Performing Arts Trust.

The Arts Heart scheme provides up to $5,000 for performing arts organisations to run educational development projects that foster talented young performers. Eligible projects include workshops, summer schools, and master classes that focus on specific performing arts disciplines. First time applicants are encouraged.

How to apply

Download the application form, complete and return it along with all relevant documentation. Applications are open until 4pm, Monday 12 September. Funding will be available after 9 November.

Application criteria

The project will be a workshop, masterclass, summer school or other educational opportunity targeted at a specific performing arts discipline, which may culminate in public performance.

It will be designed to encourage and educate young talent at the following levels:

  • emerging level – to inspire those with some ability and motivate them to strive for excellence
  • advanced level – to provide mentoring opportunities and further enhance the abilities of those already achieving giving them the opportunity to perform alongside professionals.

Other criteria:

  • Your project must be held within Palmerston North
  • Participants must come from Palmerston North
  • The project must feature recognised professionals as tutors
  • The successful project will be completed by 30 June 2023

If your application is approved:

  • You'll need to submit a project report back to the Trust on the outcomes of the project
  • Any surplus of income over expenditure or unspent funds will be returned to the Trust.
