Draft Palmerston North Speed Management Plan

In November, we’ll be consulting with you on proposed changes to speed limits on some roads in our city.

One of the main reasons for these changes is a new government rule that means every school must have variable speed limits on the road outside its main gates by the end of June. Our plan also looks at some other roads where changes are needed for safety reasons or to support city growth.

You might remember we asked for feedback on speed limits around schools and other parts of the city in 2023, but that work was put on hold when the Government changed. This time, the proposals are a bit different, so we’re consulting you on them again.

Consultation will be open from 1 November to 15 December

We'll provide more information on our website soon about these proposals, including maps and online submission forms.

We’ll also have hard copy consultation documents and submission forms at our Customer Service Centre on The Square, as well as at Central Library, and libraries at Ashhurst, Awapuni, Roslyn, Linton Camp and Te Pātikitiki/Highbury.
