Māori Wards Referendum - Drop-in session

Next date: Saturday, 13 September 2025 | 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM

A beautiful heritage building with arches and tall windows that soar to the sky.

This year, alongside the local elections, you’ll also be voting in a binding referendum on Māori wards. Every council with Māori wards must hold one, including us.

That means you’ll be asked whether to keep or remove the Te Pūao Māori Ward, which currently has two seats at the Council table.

If you've got questions or not sure how it all works, come along to this drop-in session to:

  • Learn what a referendum is and how it affects you
  • Ask questions about the voting process
  • Get clear, easy-to-understand information about Māori wards before you cast your vote

This isn’t a formal presentation - just a chance to drop by anytime between 1–3pm and ask any questions.
