Lease a Council carpark

Council offers lease parking at a number of convenient central city locations. We lease parks on a monthly basis.

Cost of Council lease parking

These fees are effective from 1 July 2021.

The parks listed in the table are available to lease Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm.

Anyone may use these parks during the weekend, at a cost of $1 an hour or $5 a day. Parking is free on public holidays.

Access-controlled lease parking

As well as the carparks listed above, we offer access-controlled lease parking in two other locations, with different terms and hours:

Ashley Street, available seven days a week, from 6.30am to 7pm: $100 a month.
Plaza top deck, available Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, from 7am to 7pm: $65 a month.

New lease carpark now available in Rangitikei Street

We have a new off-street carpark in Rangitikei Street, available for lease six days a week:

266 Rangitikei Street, available Monday to Saturday, from 8am to 5pm: $80 a month.

Anyone may use this park free outside of these hours, and on Sundays and public holidays.

Cancel a parking lease

Lease parking permits are linked to your number plate

If you have a lease parking permit, you can park in any lease parking spaces in that carpark.

Instead of physical cards, our parking wardens verify your permit by scanning your vehicle’s number plate. To ensure your permit remains valid, please remember to inform us if you change vehicles to ensure your number plate is updated.
