You need to provide a valid reason why the ticket should not have been issued or isn't justified. Reasons we'll consider include the following.
You paid for the wrong bay number, or you paid for parking but still received a ticket
Please provide proof of payment. This can be from a meter receipt or bank statement. Depending on where you parked and how you paid, we may also accept:
- a screenshot from your Frogparking app
- details of your Council parking permit.
You parked in a mobility car park but forgot to display your mobility permit
Please provide proof you hold a current mobility permit.
The parking meter was faulty
Did you know you don't have to use the meter nearest where you've parked your car? If you're unlucky enough to strike a broken meter again, you can pay at any other meter on the street.
We will waive your parking ticket if we can confirm the meter was faulty. It will help to speed up the process if you're able to provide evidence. For example:
- a photo or video of the meter not working
- job number (if you called us to report the fault)
Someone else was lawfully or unlawfully in charge of your car
You can apply to transfer the liability to another person:
- if you sell your car and get a ticket meant for the new owner
- if someone else was driving your car when the offence occurred.
We will require a statutory declaration as well as supporting evidence.
To find out more about making a statutory declaration, please follow the steps to transfer liability for a parking ticket before returning to this page to complete the online form.
If your car was stolen and you'd like us to waive the infringement, please follow the same steps.
Your car broke down
Please provide proof of breakdown that shows the date. For example:
- a mechanic's report
- a receipt for towing.
There was a medical emergency
Please provide dated evidence. For example:
- a payment receipt, or
- a doctor's letter acknowledging your arrival time and discharge time.
You've been ticketed for an expired warrant of fitness or registration
If your vehicle doesn't have a current warrant of fitness or its registration has expired, there's no proof it's safe.
We understand it's easy to forget to register your vehicle or book your WoF before the due date. So we give you a grace period to make that moment of forgetfulness less painful. Here's how it works:
- If it’s not longer than 7 days overdue, you’ll receive a warning notice.
- If it’s between 7 days and 1 month overdue, you’ll get a ticket, but you have 14 days to become compliant. If you can show us a photograph of your new warrant of fitness or registration, or a receipt showing you've paid your registration, we'll waive your infringement fee.
- If it’s overdue by more than 1 month, we'll issue a ticket. This can’t be reversed.
Each of these infringements will incur a $200 fee.
| Time WoF or rego is overdue |
Fee |
| Less than 7 days |
Nil |
| More than 7 days and less than 1 month |
$200 – we'll review this if you can prove your vehicle complies |
| Overdue 1 month or more |
$200 – no second chance |
