Fur-ever tags

Last year we introduced fur-ever tags. The durable green tags are made from recycled plastic and designed to last a lifetime. Keep reading to find out what that means for you.

Hang on to your existing fur-ever tag

We won't be sending you a new tag when you renew your dog registration later this year.

Fur-ever tags will streamline the registration process and reduce plastic waste

Our fur-ever tags will make the registration process simpler, more sustainable, and easier for you to manage. Pictured, a dog sporting one of the new tags.

A dog models one of the new lifetime tags, coloured green and labelled 'Palmy'.

You still need to renew your dog’s registration each year, but your tag will remain the same

Once you’ve paid, your dog will be registered in our system.

Each tag is linked to a specific dog and can’t be transferred. If you register a new dog, we’ll issue a new tag.

If your tag gets lost or damaged, contact us and we’ll send a replacement.

Registration and identification

Our animal management officers will be able to identify your dog by the tag number. We can also scan your dog’s microchip – which is a requirement under the Dog Control Act 1996 and must be completed within two months of first registration.
