Recycle metal, fridges and freezers

Strong's Metal Recycling at the Awapuni Resource Recovery Park will accept items that are made of metal, like cars, whiteware, steel, bikes, ladders, gas bottle, corrugated iron and old baths. In some cases you will be paid for these.

Fridges and freezers can be delivered to Strong's Metal Recycling. There is a charge to cover the cost of degassing.

Recycle e-waste

Ferguson Street recycling centre accepts e-waste for recycling. E-waste is electronic items like computers, kettles, toasters, TVs, printers, microwaves and even dishwashers and washing machines - but not fridges or freezers.

We send them to a processing plant where they are dismantled in an ethical and environmentally sustainable way. Lots of e-waste contains elements that can be recycled, but it also contains chemicals that can leach into the soil and waterways, making it one of the most toxic types of waste in the world - far more toxic than common household rubbish.

Recycle these items free

  • mobile phones
  • desktop computers
  • GPS systems
  • computer mice
  • cameras

We charge a fee for other e-waste.

Pay by cash or Eftpos.
