Transport planning
Transport planning plays a vital role in shaping the city's future, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable movement for people and goods.
The city’s transport strategy is designed to support growth, reduce congestion, and improve connectivity within the city and beyond. Through plans such as the Palmy Transport System Improvement Plan (PTSIP) and the development of strategic networks, we are investing in improved road, cycling, and pedestrian infrastructure.
Strategic networks
Strategic Networks summarises the technical document that guides how we manage our transport assets. It's a simple and easy-to-read outline of where we've prioritised different modes and activities across our transport system.

Palmy Transport System Improvement Plan (PTSIP)
The Palmy Transport System Improvement Plan (PTSIP) is a key part of the Palmerston North Integrated Transport Initiative (PNITI).
It’s a journey-based blueprint to improve the city’s transport system over the short and medium terms. The PTSIP brings together existing transport plans to form an integrated multi-modal view of place and movement priorities.
