Get out and about in Palmy this summer

Recent weather may not have been playing ball, but things are certainly warming up in our city with lots to see and do this summer.

Mayor Grant Smith says Palmerston North really is a place that’s got something for everyone, whether you’re an active relaxer or want to chill poolside or courtside.

“I encourage everyone to take advantage of the diverse range of events we are bringing to the city or to spend some time with loved ones in our beautiful hotspots, whether that’s in nature or strolling our central streets and supporting local.”

For those needing to tire out the kids we’ve put together a map of all our playgrounds or check out one of our 3 Council pools (swimming is free for under-fives).

The warmer weather is also the perfect time to get out and explore in nature and we have the perfect guide to our walkways that can be found online or at the Palmerston North iSite.

Those that want to explore our parks and walkways with your furry friends, check out our exercising your dog page to find the best dog-friendly spots in the city.

Our events season has commenced and is in full swing right through to March. Te Marae o Hine – The Square, the Victoria Esplanade and the city’s streets will be buzzing with fun for all ages. Live music, dance performances, food and craft stalls, and activities for the kids will be in abundance as we come together to celebrate a number of key dates and events over the next couple of months.
