Breaking Boundaries in Sport

image shows portraits of four women with the title of breaking boundaries in sport.

Join us for the final event in our Empowering Speaker Series as we bring together influential wāhine toa who have reached the top of their respective fields.

This panel-style event, designed to break boundaries in the world of professional sport, will provide you with the opportunity to hear first-hand stories, gain valuable insights, and have the chance to ask your burning questions.

Experience the extraordinary journeys of our speakers:

  • Dame Farah Palmer: Prepare to be awed by the presence of Dame Farah Palmer, a former captain of the Black Ferns, recognised for her lifelong commitment to the game and dedication to growing women’s and Māori rugby. Her exceptional accomplishments on the field are only matched by her devotion to paving the way for the next generation of leaders.
  • Hayley Holt: Join us as Hayley Holt, a dynamic force in the world of snowboarding and ballroom dancing, takes the stage. Hayley's fearless approach to life has led her to conquer mountains and glide across dance floors, before transitioning into a successful career in media and television.
  • Anna Green: Step onto the field with Anna Green, one of New Zealand’s top footballers who has redefined the game. From the pitch to uncharted territories, she's shown us that pushing limits knows no bounds.

Guiding us through the evening will be Melodie Robinson, a well-seasoned sports journalist, commentator and former international rugby union player. Her insightful commentary and deep understanding of the sports landscape will keep us all engaged.

Admission is free, but a small koha is welcome upon entry and all proceeds will go to the Cancer Society. Spaces are limited, so secure your spot by registering now!

This evening marks the final event in our Empowering Speaker Series, made possible by the Government’s Hine te Hiringa funding. This series sets out to celebrate women’s achievements and inspire the next generation of female leaders during FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
